Overview Corman Clinical Enhancements is a suite of software components which enhance the functionality and usability of the Eclipsys Sunrise Clinical platform. These components add new capabilities to the Sunrise products, and offer new and easy ways to customize Sunrise, both for clinicians and administrators. Corman Clinical Enhancements are built on top of the flexible Sunrise ObjectsPlus architecture, and both support and add to the capabilities of ObjectsPlus. This product suite is designed to support anyone doing custom ObjectsPlus work for Sunrise, writing custom MLMs (Medical Logic Modules), or otherwise configuring and enhancing a Sunrise installation. Corman Clinical Enhancements employ proprietary (Copyright © Corman Technologies Inc.) components and algorithms to provide additional capabilities to Sunrise Clinical applications. The components are launched via the ObjectsPlus interfaces provided by Eclipsys. The components are comprised of a combination of MLMs, custom .NET assemblies, custom DLLs, and additional database tables. Eclipsys supports the use of ObjectsPlus and custom database tables for clients and third-party developers who wish to extend and customize Sunrise products. Corman Clinical Enhancements run in the background, once launched, and may be used in the future to add additional functionality. In addition, Corman Technologies provides software development services for Sunrise clients wishing to deploy customized solutions. Our services can offer substantial quality, value and development time advantages ofver competitors, due to the use of Corman Clinical Enhancements. Features Smart Dialog Enhancements Dialogs (such as Order Entry, Alerts, Structured Notes, etc.) may be enhanced by adding a panel of hyperlinks or other custom controls, which have full access to the patient information. This is especially useful in the case of modal dialogs where a user would typically be required to close the dialog to gain access to the additional information. Audit Tracking Capabilities User activity may be tracked in various ways, recording the access time and total time open for various dialogs, documents etc. For example, a log entry may be generated each time a user opens a specific document (or any document), with information including the document GUID, the user GUID, the time the document was opened, and the time the document was closed. Custom Signature Manager Trigger Notifies the user that they have items requiring a signature and prompts them to sign the items by invoking the standard SCM Signature Manager dialog. This action is triggered at log-in, if a patient is preselected, or at the time the first patient is selected. The user may choose to sign items before continuing, or decline, and continue as usual. HL7 Engine HL7 messaging provides the only reliable way to automate most types of data entry in Sunrise. The standard ObjectsPlus components support very little in the way of database updates or inserts. Using our proprietary HL7 engine, which is integrated with Corman Clinical Components, data entry can be achieved seamlessly by generating Sunrise-compliant HL7 messages on the fly and submitting them invisibly. This provides a way to automate data entry from ObjectsPlus while maintaining Sunrise business logic (and Eclipsys support). Dialog Trigger Events Most Sunrise dialogs may be modified to support trigger events (MLM activation) on Dialog Open, Dialog Close, and various other application events. This functionality is similar to the ability to supply called MLMs for custom order forms. Using Corman Clinical Enhancements, a similar capability can be applied to other dialogs and worksheets. Deployment Tool Custom components such as DLLs, EXEs and .NET assemblies may be deployed to the client workstation automatically when Sunrise runs. This includes components of Corman Clinical Enhancements as well as components designed or provided by clients (such as DLLs associated with a custom MLM). Component Launcher Clients may utilize Corman Clinical Enhancements component launcher to register actions to run (applications to launch, functions to be called) when Sunrise starts, exits, or when a user logs on or logs off. Clinical Decision Support Enhancements A package of MLMs is included which add significant new capabilities to Sunrise CDS (Clinical Decision Support). These are designed by Roger Corman, architect and lead developer of CDS, in partnership with Walter Sujansky, M.D. Ph.D. The CDS enhancements allow .NET methods to be called from MLMs and provide improved ways to make operating system calls or queries. Enhanced Alerting The Alerts dialog is enhanced with an additional panel which includes information about how often the particular alert has been displayed, and how often the alert caused the action to be changed or cancelled. It also contains some contextual information that the MLM may provide. Web Browser Tab A custom tab with a built-in web browser is included, which may be configured to launch a different URL based on the logged in user's rights or roles. Hyperlinks from various places in the application may invoke this tab. In addition, Sunrise dialogs may be enhanced with web links, which can be context sensitive, and provide the user with options to bring up web pages or other web-based applications. Configuration Configuration of each of the features listed above is handled through ConfigTools.
